HAVE A GREAT DAY

  1. If you purchased “Day of Silence” merchandise please bring in what you owe ASAP to Mr. Gillane.  The Day of Silence is April 12th.
  2. Last chance to get awesome candles, accessories, and popcorn.  See any world challenger for details.  Our Yankee candle sale ends April 1st.  Ms. Cramer or Natalie Perez can answer any questions. 
  3. Attention World Challengers – Money and order forms are due April 1st to Ms. Magrath or Ms. Cramer. 
  4. Calling all high school girls! Interested in learning and playing women’s rugby? The Springfield Rifles Rugby Club is recruiting girls 14 and older to join their team! No experience necessary. Stop by Room 140 and sign up with Ms. Au-Yeung.

  2. If you are interested in taking hip hop dance after school, show up for hip hop dance club on Thursdays from 3 to 3:50 in room 55. The first meeting will take place this Thursday at 3. For more information contact Ms. Rodriguez in counseling. 
  3. Any student interested in playing football next year the coach, Mr. Mathis, will be here on Tues, Weds, and Thurs (3/26-3/28) from 10:30am until 11:30am.
  4. Renaissance Ambassadors training sessions will be held in room 118 after school on Wednesday AND Thursday of this week!

  7. Attention students interested in auditioning for the Talent Show: there will be an audition during lunch in the Black Box Theatre on Wednesday. We have a lot of singers already, and although more are welcome, we are looking for a variety of acts. Think dancers, actors, poets, martial artists, jugglers, comedians, fire eaters, …you get the point. See Kiesha Shepard, Albert Serafino, Kelvin Baldwin or Monique Owens with questions!   Teachers are also welcome!  We can be flexible about your auditions.

Seniors! A GREAT LOCAL Scholarship. A final reminder that Berkshire Bank Foundation Inc.’s Scholarship Applications are due on Wednesday, March 27th by 4:00 PM Late applications will not be accepted. Apply for one of 30 $1,500.00 scholarships

Brooke III Oratorical Scholarship Competition.   African American and Latino high school male Renaissance students with some experience or interest in public speaking should sign up.  The students will compete for scholarship prizes during a community-wide event at St. John’s Congregational Church in Springfield, MA on May 4, 2013.  This year’s theme is Under the Influence: How Do the Images and Messages Delivered About Masculinity Affect the Decision Making of Youth and the Health of Our Community? You need to submit an online registration. Sign up for an information session on Monday, March 25th at 12:30 with former faculty member James Lightfoot III. Sign up in the Counseling Center. Edward Brown won second last – keep the Renaissance tradition rolling!

  1. The Renaissance Gay Straight Alliance will be taking orders for  merchandise such as stickers, buttons and t-shirts at lunch this week to support LGBTQ Youth and The Day of Silence. The Day of Silence is on April 12th. Please support those who have no voice.
  2. If you are interested in taking hip hop dance after school, show up for hip hop dance club on Thursdays from 3 to 3:50 in room 55. The first meeting will take place this Thursday at 3. For more information contact Ms. Rodriguez in counseling.

  1. The Renaissance cheerleaders are selling tickets to the Springfield Armor game on Saturday, March 23rd at the MassMutual Center at 7:00. Tickets are $10, and cheerleaders need to sell a minimum of 100 tickets in order to perform at half time. Please see Bean in room 145 or any cheerleader. Reserve your ticket before Monday, March 18th.
  2. Juniors it’s time to order your class ring!!!!  Orders will be taken on Thursday, March 21st during lunches in the cafeteria.  A $50.00 deposit is requested when placing your order.  Design your custom ring on-line at Jostens.com or pick up a ring packet in the main office.
