  1. EMT Academy is offering seniors an affordable education opportunity after they graduate.  Emergency Medical Services is a career that can introduce your students to many other health care field opportunities.  Please contact Mr. Spafford @ emtacademy.org or call,  (413) 734-9119.
  2. Teens have their own mobile digital-media “lab” in the teen areas at the Central and Mason Square libraries: Four Mac Pro laptops at Central Library on State Street and three at Mason Square to make movies and other creative projects, all equipped with iMovie, Audacity and Photoshop Elements, as well as other software programs built into Macs such as iPhoto and GarageBand. After-school and evening hours. All levels of expertise welcome –experiment. See what you’ll create!
  3. All members of the Step team must meet next Thursday, 6/6 in Room 162 at 3:00pm
  4. There is no before school library today Friday, 5/31.

Dress down day on June 4 for $1.  Money will support a memorial event for Officer Kevin Ambrose who was killed in the line of duty on June 4, 2012.  Students are expected to adhere to the following clothing guidelines stated in the Renaissance handbook on pg. 24.  Anyone violating the following will receive a uniform violation.  Money will be collected by crew teacher the morning of:

  1. No sandals, flip flops or open back shoes
  2. Dresses, skirts, shorts must be at knee length
  3. No hats or head coverings (except religious observations)
  4. Pants must be worn at the waist
  5. No spaghetti straps, strapless tops, tie backs or tube tops
  6. No jeans ripped above the knee 

Calling all ARTISTS:   This is the FINAL CALL for artwork submissions for the program at next week’s graduation ceremony!

Please include an Artist’s Statement that answers the questions:

1.     Why did you choose to include certain design elements in your piece of work?

2.   What do you want people to know about how your work connects to The Springfield Renaissance mission, qualities of a Renaissance graduate, and/or community commitments?

3.   What makes your piece of work unique to represent the Class of 2013 for this important event?

10th and 11th graders! Interested in getting a head start on your college planning this summer? Sophomores and Juniors can participate in Fairfield University’s Pre-College Workshop July 9-10. You’ll get to live on campus for a weekend! Participate in college bound, workshops, learn how to write your college essay, learn about financial aid and practice interviewing, think carefully about how best shape your academic-self for the fall. Interest students must complete an application that includes a resume, an essay and a high school transcript. Request an application in the Counseling Center – Due June 21st.

JUNIORS & SENIORS:  Westfield State University is offering the Dual Enrollment Program.  Eligible students must have a “B” or better average.  Cost will be $500.00 for a 3 credit course and $750.00 for a 4 credit course.  High school and college credit applications can be  obtained in the guidance office.

  3. REMINDER:  Weds, May 22nd is Hands Only CPR day.  It is open to all staff, students and families.  It will be held in the big gym from 8am until 3pm and then move to the small gym from 3pm until 4:30pm.  If teachers and students could let their families know that would be great.  Thanks.  Any questions please see Nurse Summerville.

Donators will earn RED SOX SWAG and be entered into a drawing for RED SOX TICKETS!
Ducharme crew will be visiting 10th, 11th, and 12th crews next week to review the requirements to fill the 40 donation appointments! 
Teachers wanting to donate during prep should email Ducharme!
Stay healthy, drink lots of water, and eat well! Thanks to those who sign up!
