HAVE A GREAT DAY

 

  1. February 27, Wednesday, 6-8 pm – Renaissance School will be hosting a City-wide Seminar for Parents and Guardians “What your pre-teens and teenagers need to know about sex”. Registration is not required but appreciated. Please, come to our Auditorium to obtain some practical tools and materials on how to address sexual issues with your growing children in our over-sexualized society. For more information and sing-up, please, contact Mrs. Heiney (). Please, tell your crew!
  2. Renaissance Parents invited to join FREE UMASS Ext. Nutrition Education Program, in our school every Thursday, from March 7 to March 21 (5:30-7:30 pm). All parents and staff are welcome to join. The capacity of the class is only 15 people, so please, sign-up early. Upon completion of the program, all participants will receive an Official Certificate from UMASS. It is a great opportunity to learn some fun healthy cooking tips, active lifestyle ideas and just to have a great time. We will have free food, prizes and handouts, all that you need is to commit to 3 Thursday evenings in March and be here on time. Unfortunately, you cannot repeat the class if you took it before from UMASS. To register , please contact Mrs. Heiney (). Please, tell your crew!

 

GUIDANCE

 

Are you interested in making a difference in the community? Mason Square Health Task Force id looking for middle and high school students who are ready to create awareness and change around health issue affecting us here in Springfield.

  • Participate in an 8 week program to learn about health equity and the social justice issues that impact healthy living in urban communities.

This is a summer program and fall 2013 program and high school students can complete community service through this project.

  • Information can be found in the Counseling Center. Sign up for an information session and you will be notified.

  1. Americorp is doing a sock drive- drop off new pairs of socks to Americorp staff or to Ms. Milch in room 106.

  4. Spring Sports – Any student wishing to play a spring sport should sign up with Mr. Fernandes at lunch this week. Remember you must be both academically and medically eligible to participate. Check with the nurse if you have questions about medical eligibility. Sports include softball, baseball, boys and girls tennis, boys and girls track, and boys volleyball. These are the high school teams only. There will be sign-ups for middle school boys and girls volleyball sometime after vacation.
  5. Anyone interested in Girl Scout Cookies please see Mrs. Mitchell in room 55.

 

GUIDANCE

 

The College Club of Springfield awards a scholarship to a girl accepted by any four-year college recognized by the American Association of University Women.  Scholarship recipients are chosen for their need, scholarship, leadership, and integrity.  Eligibility is limited to women ranking in the upper fifth of their class in public schools in the Greater Springfield Area, and whose family’s income does not exceed $85,000.  Deadline:  2/22

For $2 your valentine will get a special delivery that consists of a colorful card with a personal message and a valentine’s themed lollipop delivered to their Crew on February 14th! See Lysandra Gonzalez or Saraiis Lopez with questions.

  3. Attention World Challengers.  We are having a fundraising meeting on Thursday, February 7th, at 3pm in Ms. Cramer’s room (139).  Please check in with Ms. Cramer or Ms. Magrath for details.
  4. Softball Information meeting on Thurs, Feb. 7, 2013 at 3:00pm in Room 116 for grades 7th and up to talk to Coach Godding with questions and get info about the season.  Please see Elisha Dejesus if you have any additional questions.  BRING CLOTHES AND GEAR FOR OPEN PRACTICE AFTER AT MARSHALL ROY.  **Dress smart and arrange rides!!!!
